Learning by teaching
‘I'm a student, of the drums
And I'm also a teacher of the drums too’
DJ Shadow, Building Steam With A Grain Of Salt
Teaching obviously has the purpose of transmission & education. But ideally it is more than a one-way street. By articulating and trying to convey a thought or process, one may elevate one's own thinking, practice and discourse. For me teaching has a role similar to the one of theory: it is an opportunity for reflection, assessment and reevaluation of practice.
I am currently teaching typography and typeface design at the ESAD in Amiens and the ESAV in Marrakech, Morocco. In addition to this regular course work, I am giving lectures and conducting workshops on short-term basis.
